Obituaries
NANCY SHELTON WILSON
The community was shocked Thursday to learn of
the death of Mrs. George Wilson at her home near
Vancleve of pneumonia. She was born in Miller Co.
October 23, 1843 and died January 3, 1929, dying
at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 10 days. Before
her marriage she was Nancy Shelton. She was married
to Geo. Wilson about 65 years ago and to this union
were born six children, four sons and two daughters,
W. L. Wilson, of Maries County, J. M. Wilson, of Meta,
J. T. Wilson, of Steelville, Mo. and C. D. Wilson, of
Oklahoma City, Mrs. W. M. Stokes, Maries County
all living and Mrs. Polly Ann Berry who died several
years ago. Besides a loving husband and children she
leaves to mourn eleven grandchildren and fourteen great
grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The funeal services were conducted by Rev. J. A. McNatt
and burial was at the Rowden Cemetery.
Almon Tolivar "Billy" Goodrick
The shadow of death brought sorrow and grief
into the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ab Harbison Friday
morning when a beloved member, Billy Goodrick,
suddenly passed away. He had made his home
with them for many years. His usual presence in
their family circle will be sadly missed.
Almon Tolivar Goodrick known as Billy to everyone,
was born in Miller Co., MO., November 24, 1879. He
was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Goodrick. He
passed away June 30, 1944, at the age of 64 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three
brothers, Ivy, Lester, and Victor, and one sister, Irene.
Surviving are seven sisters and four brothers, Mrs.
Minta Small of Tuscumbia, Mo., Mrs. Dollie Boan of
Chattanooga, Tenn., Mrs. Anna Harbison of Etterville,
Mrs. Crystal McMillan of Spring Garden, Mrs. Jesse
Hicks, Mrs. Virgie Cage and Mrs. Essie May Hoff, all
of Kansas City, Mo., Alva and Henry Goodrick both of
Kansas City, Kansas, Ralph of Kansas City, Mo., and
Gus Goodrick of Etterville; several aunts, cousins and
other relatives.
Billy Goodrick was well known in his immediate
community. He spent his entire life within a few miles
of his birthplace. He lost his hearing when quite young
and because of this he enjoyed being at home with his
reading and his church and work which he loved.
Billy was a kind good son and brother. He read widely,
especially his bible. He belonged to Milldale Baptist
church and lived a quiet, good Christian life.
Funeral services were held at the Etterville Christian
church Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock conducted by
the Rev. N. E. Williams of Eldon, and burial was made
in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, directed by Kays Funeral
Service.
Loretta Curry Birdsong
Mrs. Loretty Birdsong died at the County Home
November 16?, 1936, of pneumonia, at the age of
85 years. Her life was one of patience to the last.
She was much loved by all who knew her for her
kindness and will be much missed by all in the Home
Where she has been for the past four years
She was a member of the Newlight Christian Church
and was faithful to the last.
She leaves 3 daughters, 4 sons and several grand-
children and great grandchildren, besides a host of
friends to mourn her loss, but she also leeaves a memory
of a sweet life to pattern after.
Funeral services were held at the Capps Cemetery
by Rev. C. M. Sooter.
Ellen Stevens McKinney
Funeral Services for Mrs. Ellen McKinney, 94, Olean,
were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Mt. Herman
baptist Church with the Rev. C. R. Morgan officiating.
Burial was in the ALLEN Cemetery under the direction
of Kays Funeral Service.
Mrs. McKinney died at her home near Olean on June
6, 1954. She was born on April 16, 1860, the daughter
of Lewis Shelton and Elizabeth Marrow Stevens. She
was married to James Thomas McKinney on July 10,
1889. He preceded her in death in 1899.
She joined the Cole Spring Baptist church in 1879 and
later moved her membership to Mt. Herman Church. She
is survived by on son-in-law, Wade O. Enloe of the home.
one step son-in-law, J. W. Williams of Eldon; seven step
grandchildren, Earl Williams of St. Louis, the Rev. Carl
Williams of Hastings, Nebraska, Av Williams of Etterville,
Dorsey Williams of Centralia, Mrs. Mae Proctor, Mrs. Esta
Hader of Olean and Mrs. Marie Mann of Canton, Illinois,
and a niece, Mrs. Ed Enloe of Russellville.
Rev. Father Bruch Dies in Kansas City
Rev. Father Bruch, for years priest of the St. Elizabeth
Catholic Church passed away at Kansas City early
Thursday morning. The remains will be laid to rest at the
St. Elizabeth Cemetery tomorrow, Friday, January 11,
1929.
HERMAN V. SOOTER
Herman V. Sooter, son of Rev. and Mrs. W. M.
Sooter, was born at Iberia, Mo. September 9, 1898
He departed this life May 15, 1945 at Fulton, Mo.
He was united in marriage to Miss Gardie Watson
on March 15, 1922. To this union, one daughter,
Dixie Donalta, age 10 years, was born. He and his
wife united with the Baptist Church in Iberia in 1923.
He remained a member of that church until death.
Mr. Sooter is survived by his wife and daughter,
his father, three sisters and one brother. His mother
preceded him in death by 10 months and 19 days
and one brother, Charles Sooter passed away in
1917.
Mr. Sooter was a Veteran of World War I and saw
service overseas. He had been in ill health for some
time.
Funeral services were held at the Mt. Zion Church
Thursday afternoon, May 17 with Rev. A. O. Shearer
of Iberia officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery.
T. C. Wright and a quartet from Tuscumbia furnished
the music. Adams & Casey Funeral Home in charge.
DAVID H. CONDRA
David H. Condra, one of our county's honored
citizens of Iberia, died at 1:00 a.m. Monday after
a protrated illness. ( March 30, 1931)
Mr. Condra was born in Tennessee (if we are
correctly informed.) moving with his family to Cooper
County, Mo. when a small child, then coming to
Miller Co. with his parents about 60 years ago.
He was united in marriage to Miss Emma Smith
and to this union three surviving children were born.
They are Everett Condra, of Tuscumbia, deputy
county clerk; Clate Condra, farmer of near Iberia;
and Mrs. Blanch Rice of near St. Louis. The widow
also survives him, also one brother, Charlie Condra,
of Iberia and one sister_____________. One brother
William Condra, was buried November 4, 1930 (on
election day)
Mr. Condra and wife resided on a farm west of Iberia
Many years, moving to Iberia recently and continued
to make that their home until his death. He was a man
of honor and integrity and his demise will be regretted
by many relatives and neighbors.
Funeral services are to be held Wednesday
afternoon at the home and burial will be in the
Iberia Cemetery. County officials and other citizens
of Tuscumbia join in extending sincere sympathy
to our deputy county clerk and other member of
the family in their bereavement.
Mary Katherine Morrow Mace
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday for
Mrs. George W. Mace, 85 of Iberia who passed
away last Wednesday, October 15, 1958 at her
home.
Mrs. Mace, the former Mary Katherine Morrow
was born near Iberia Dec. 13, 1872, the only
daughter of William and Atha Ann Morrow.
She attended the Iberia Academy and Drury
College and taught school for a few years before
her marriage.
Mrs. Mace was a member of the Iberia
Congregational Christian Church for about 60 years.
On January 1, 1899, she was married to George
W. Mace who survives. They were the parents of
six children. Two daughters died in infancy. Vida
at the age of 13 months and Virgie at the age of
seven months. A son, Walter, died in 1942 at the
age of 37.
Surviving relatives in addition to her husband
are three daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Hix of Ulman,
Mrs. Ruby McDonald of Warrensburg and Mrs.
Lucille White of Iberia; four brothers, Thurman and
Lev Morrow of Iberia, Seldon Morrow of Denver,
Colorado and Sat Morrow of Las Animas, Colorado
and one grand daughter, Mary Melinda Morrow of
Warrensburg.
The Rev. Earl Brown officiated at the services
Friday at the Congregational Christian Church in
Iberia. Interment was in the Iberia cemetery under
the direction of the Hedges Funeral Home of Iberia.
Pallbearers were Bob Perkins, GR Keeth, Marvin
Morrow, Willard Humphrey, Harold Doyce Pemberton
and Johnny Grady.
HERSCHEL HAHN TAYLOR
Herschel Hahn Taylor, 46, of 512 E. Capitol Ave.,
died shortly after midnight of a heart attack. His
death occurred at the home of his fiancee, Miss
Marian Bowers, 422 E. Capital Ave., while they
were making plans for thier wedding.
Mr. Taylor, who was a driver-salesman for the
Shell Oil Co., apparently had been in good health.
He had ben engaged in shoveling snow late Sunday
afternoon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m.
Wednesday at a local funeral chapel by the Revs.
H. G. Gadd and T. W. Nelson. The Masonic Ritual
also will be given at the chapel by Jefferson Lodge,
A. F. and A. M. No. 43. Burial will be in Riverview
Cemetery.
Mr. Taylor was born October 13, 1909, at Olean,
the son of Charles and Mary Hahn Taylor. He was
an only child. He moved to Jefferson City in 1933
and since has been associated with the Shell Oil
Company.
Surviving is his mother, Mrs. Mary Taylor, 512
E. Capitol Ave.
He was a member of Olean Lodge, No 134, A.F.
and A. M. and the Olean Baptist Church.

Mary Melvina Harrison Cain
Mary Melvina Cain was born July 17, 1854 in
Campbell County, Kentucky and died at her home
in Eldon on December 31, 1928 at the age of 74
years, 5 months and 14 days. Mrs. Cain has suffered
over a year with mental trouble, was able to be about
the house and assist a little with work until the last
14 days of life she was confined to her bed with the
flu. Mrs. Cain with her husband and son, Marion,
lived near Meta for 11 or 12 years . But moved to Eldon
November 6, 1928 where they only lived a short while
when Mrs. Cain had taken sick. She was before her
marriage, Miss Harrison and at the age of 14 years
she was converted, baptized and united with the
Christian Church, she lived a faithful christian woman
until the time of her death, although weak both in mind
and body, her faith in God was alway the same, her
desire was to be more like her savior.
She was married to Phillip H. Cain, at Campbell County,
Kentucky May 19, 1870. To this union were born 8 sons,
Phillip A. Cain, Sioux City, Iowa, Moses L. of Eldon,
Charles H.. Los Angeles, California, Eugene C., Kansas
City, Marion O. , Eldon, Robert C. also of Kansas City.
Arthur N. and Albert both died in infancy.
Besides husband and children, she leaves 17 grand-
children, other relatives and friends to mourn her loss.
Funeral services were conducted at the home by Mrs.
Louisa Pace, burial was in the Eldon Cemetery.
All children were present except Phillip of Sioux City,
Iowa and Charles of Los Angeles, California

James Oscar Garlett, 80, of Weaubleau died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, in
Sac-Osage Hospital, Osceola.
He was born Dec. 3, 1924, in Kansas City, Kan.
A veteran of World War II, he was a retired street department employee
for Kansas City. He was a member of Humansville Full Gospel Church.
He married Betty Trowbridge April 4, 1948. She preceded him in death
May 18, 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Garlett and wife Denise of Collins and
Jimmy Lee Garlett of Osceola; one brother, Paul Garlett of Garden City;
two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Cremation was under the direction of Murray
Funeral Home, Humansville.

William Robert Brown, 86, of Bolivar died at 2:10 p.m. Monday, June 27,
2005, in his home after kidney failure.
He was born May 4, 1919, in Huron, the son of William Homer Brown and
Mary Eleanor Hensen Brown. He was known to his family and friends
as “Bob.” He left home at 17 and went to California, where he met his
future wife, Katherine Rose Foster. They married in September 1940.
After war broke out, he was employed by the naval shipyard in
Wilmington, Calif., as a welder. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and
served on a tanker in the Atlantic until 1946. After being discharged
from the Navy, he moved to Santa Paula, Calif., and worked at the
Associate Insectary where he raised insects. He retired in 1978 and
returned to Missouri. He loved the Lord and served as an adult Sunday
school teacher at Berean Baptist Church in Bolivar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jesse, Tom and
Noel; three sisters, Velma, Della and Stella; and a daughter,
RoseMarie.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Katherine Rose, of the home; a son,
Noel Brown, and his wife Linda of Bolivar; one brother, Marvin Brown of
Bolivar; two sisters, Mabel Vest of Polk and MerrieMarie Hammerbacher
of Fair Play; three grandsons, Darrel and wife Deanna of the state of
Tennessee, Craig of the state of California and Dathan and wife
Jennifer of the state of Florida; and four great-grandchildren, Brian,
Allison, Ashton and Austin.
Services were Thursday, June 30, in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with
the Rev. John Pursselley, Allen Ketel and the Rev. Dave Barger
officiating. Musical selections were by Bill Yeargain and Michelle
Ketel, with Barbara Lingo as the pianist. Burial was in Payne Cemetery
at Polk with Jim Peacock and the Rev. Greg Christopher officiating.
Casketbearers were Danny Hitchcock, Dick Henderson, Bob Julien, David
Schroll, Raymond Steenbock and Chris Ford. Honorary casketbearers were
the men of the Harvesters Sunday school class. Memorial contributions
may be made to Citizen’s Memorial Hospital Hospice.

Goldie Melvina Johnson Goodson, 73, of Bolivar, formerly of Stockton,
died Wednesday, June 22, 2005, following a lingering illness.
She was born Feb. 2, 1932. She was a member of First Baptist Church of
Humansville and was a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge of Fair Play.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis Johnson and wife Carol of El
Dorado Springs, Donnie Johnson and wife Shirley of Humansville and
Jerry Johnson and wife Jamie of Collins; three daughters, Sharon Freeze
and husband Joe of Fair Play, Beverly Frank and husband John of
Stockton and Carolyn Baker and her sons, Jason Johnson and Ron Baker,
all of Bolivar; a sister, Dorothy Dinkey of Sedalia; a brother, Bob and
wife Pearl of Sedalia; 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Services were Friday, June 24, at Brumback Funeral Home with burial in
Humansville Cemetery.

Carrie E. Kates, 79, of Bolivar died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, in Cox
Medical Center South, Springfield.
The daughter of Robert and Marie Miller Duryee, she was born Nov. 30,
1925, in Dorrance, Kan. Her family moved to Bolivar when she was a
young girl.
Her first husband, Cletis Parrish, preceded her in death. She was
married Aug. 2, 1966, to Levi Gene Kates. They resided in the
Springfield area for several years before moving back to Bolivar where
she resided until her death.
Also preceding her in death are her parents; one son, Bennie Duryee;
one grandson, Casey Parrish; two brothers and five sisters.
She was a Christian and was saved May 15, 1957. She enjoyed going to
garage sales, looking at antiques and walking among the flowers in her
yard.
Surviving are her husband, Gene, of the home; two sons, Joe Duryee and
wife Isabelle of Bolivar and Cletis Parrish of Wheatland; five
grandchildren, Jim Duryee and wife Connie, Joe Logan Duryee, Joy
Hickman, Danielle Wade and husband Scott and Willie Parrish; seven
great-grandchildren; one sister, Leota Amlin and husband Dewey; and
several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. today (Friday) in Greenwood
Cemetery with the Rev. Harold Johnson officiating. Arrangements are
under the direction of Murray Funeral Home.

Mary Lillian Evans, 83, of Bolivar died at 7:48 p.m. Saturday, June 25,
2005, in the Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar,
following a lingering illness.
She was born Feb. 21, 1922, in Olive, the daughter of Moses A. Johnston
and Ethyl Mae Taylor Johnston. She became a Christian when she was
about 12 years old and had attended Maranatha Baptist Church in
Bolivar. A former longtime resident of Buffalo and Springfield, she had
been a resident of Bolivar for the past 11 years. She retired from Cox
Medical Center in Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Laverne Evans in
1998; one son and one daughter.
She is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Evans of Bolivar; Barbara
Graves and husband Arlis of Independence and Patsy Estell and husband
Don of Acworth, Ga.; her sister, Ruth Eagon of Half Way; four
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives
and friends.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) in the Butler Funeral
Home Chapel with Bro. David Eagon and Pastor John Pursselley
officiating. Casketbearers will be Russell Evans Jr., Dennis Eagon,
Randy Graves, Brian Graves, Arlis Graves and Don Estell. Burial will be
in Schofield Cemetery.

Marjorie Maxine Lambert, 77, of Bolivar died at 9:35 a.m. Thursday,
June 23, 2005, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.
She was born Aug. 21, 1927, near Marshfield, the daughter of James
Clyde Shannon and Mary Elberta Clift Shannon.
She was a homemaker and member of Black Oak Free Will Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William “Bill”
Lambert; a brother, Wilbur Shannon; and a granddaughter, Carla Renee
Jones.
Survivors include four children, Larry Smith and wife Linda of
Springfield, Linda Jones and husband Martin of Fayetteville, Ark.,
Carolyn Garretson and husband Randy of Humansville and Tamara Blazek
and husband Dean of Humansville; a sister, Evelyn Parkhurst of Bazine,
Kan.; her grandchildren, Gregg Dark, Christopher Smith and Alecia,
Scott Jones and Amy, Kristina Jones and Jason, Shannon and Chase
Garretson and Shane Blazek; six great-grandchildren, Oden, Autumn,
Cole, Dylan, Darian and Ciera; two aunts, Geneva Johnston, Marshfield,
and Marie Clift, state of Illinois; and several nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.
Services were Sunday, June 26, in the Fraker Funeral Home, Marshfield.
Interment was in the Marshfield Cemetery.

Gale G. Snow, 70, of Weaubleau died June 24, 2005, at St. John’s
Hospital, Springfield.
He was born Sept. 29, 1934, in Weaubleau, the son of Cecil Thomas and
Grace Ellen Glanville Snow. He was united in marriage to Shirley
Lorraine Durnell on Jan. 15, 1952, and they had two children, Nancy
Ellen and Danny Lloyd.
He was a member of the Weaubleau First Baptist Church and was ordained
as a deacon on Nov. 22, 1969. He was a dairy farmer and had served on
the Mid-America Dairy board.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of 53 years; one daughter, Nancy
Johnson and husband Pat of Bolivar; one son, Danny, and wife Debbie of
Weaubleau; two granddaughters, Amber Thompson and husband Joel and
Audra Johnson and fiancee T. Jay Sanderson, all of Bolivar; and one
sister, Lotus Cully of Buffalo; two nephews, Michael Cully of
Springfield and Blake Cully of Ozark; and one niece, Sheila Roller of
Buffalo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were Tuesday, June 28, at Weaubleau First Baptist Church with
the Rev. Gene Ridings and the Rev. Robert Nuckolls officiating. Burial
was in Robinson Cemetery under the direction of Hathaway-Peterman
Funeral Home, Wheatland. Pallbearers were Charles Hemphill, Ivan
Kauffman, Freddie Martin, Lee Gosline, Wayne John and David McQuown.
Honorary pallbearers were Oscar Stokes, Dean Hunt and Jess Cooper.

Barbara Lee Stine, 84, of Eudora died at 11:35 a.m. Friday, June 24,
2005, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, after a short illness.
She was born in Polk County and grew up in the Eudora area. She
graduated from Marion C. Early High School in Morrisville in 1940.
She was a homemaker and was employed with Lily Tulip Cup Co. for 10
years. She spent 30 years in Utah with her husband who was a wheat
farmer. She was a member of Nixa Baptist Church and attended Pleasant
Ridge Baptist Church of Aldrich.
She was united in marriage to Herbert Stine Sept. 28, 1946, and
together they shared eight years. He preceded her in death May 14,
1955. She married James Stine June 9, 1965, and they shared 28 years,
before he died Jan. 3, 2002.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, Amos and Tina McGill
Wynkoop; one brother, Bill Wynkoop; and two nephews, Gary and Randy
Wynkoop.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Alice Wynkoop; a brother-in-law,
Paul Stine and wife Joyce; two nieces; several grand-nieces and
nephews; several cousins; special friends, Kim and Tommy Dobbins; and
other relatives and friends.
Services were Monday, June 27, in Wilson-Brim-Daniel Chapel, Walnut
Grove, with the Rev. Frank Childers and the Rev. Leon Meadows
officiating. Interment was in Richwood Cemetery, northwest of Ozark.

Norman Chester Bennett, Lebanon, was born Oct. 4, 1918, in New
Diggings, Wis., the son of Andrew and Helga (Magnuson) Bennett. He died
June 30, 2005, in the Christian Healthcare South Nursing Facility,
Lebanon, at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 26 days.
He served in the Army in World War II and retired from Bendix
Corporation in Kansas City where he was employed in classified work.
He was united in marriage with Pearl Peppers on Nov. 30, 1945. He was a
member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Lebanon. He was preceded in
death by his parents; and two brothers: Willard and Willis.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl, of the home; two brothers: Paul and
Ivan Bennett, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and two sisters: Pauline Lowe
and Betty Ann Graham, also of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Combined funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday, July 1 at the Fair
Grove High School gym under the direction of Klingner Cope Family
Funeral Home. Burial is in Rose Hill Cemetery in Willard.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at the Klingner
Cope Family Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the David and Patricia
Terry Scholarship Fund. Donations to the fund can be accepted at Fair
Grove High School.
David Leon Terry, 57, was born Feb. 28, 1948, the son of Duward (D.L.)
Terry and Joanna Dobbs. He died June 26, 2005, of injuries sustained in
an automobile accident just outside of their Fair Grove home. He was
united in marriage with Patricia Ann Terry on May 22, 1975, and to this
marriage one daughter was born.
He was a lifelong member and business owner in the Fair Grove
community. He graduated from Fair Grove High School in 1966. He served
active duty in the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant in Thailand and
Germany and later served in the National Guard. He enjoyed learning and
passing on information to others.
He owned Terry Refrigeration in Fair Grove for many years and most
recently worked for FEDEx Freight as a driver.
Patricia Ann Terry, 56, was born March 16, 1949, the daughter of Luther
L. Essary and Mary Louise Chism.
She was a lifelong scholar and educator, graduated from Central High
School in Springfield, and received her bachelor's degree in education
from Southwest Missouri State University where she later earned her
master's and specialist degree in educational administration.
She began her teaching career in the Ozark School District and later
served as a teacher and middle school principal for Fair Grove R-X
schools for the past 25 years. She would have retired from the school
district on June 30. She was greatly appreciated and will be deeply
missed by her many students, co-workers and friends.
They were both proud, devoted parents to their daughter and family
members to their parents, siblings and to each other. Both were looking
forward to their daughter's forthcoming wedding and an extension of
family. They both enjoyed their life together and will be greatly
missed by all who knew them.
They were preceded in death by his parents; and her father. They are
suvived by their daughter, Marianne; her mother, Mary Louise Chism; his
brothers: Dennis Terry, Fair Grove, Douglas Terry, Fair Grove, Donald
Terry, Springfield; her siblings: Dan L. Essary, Marshfield, Marilyn
Kemp, Plano, Texas, Ron Essary, Marshfield, Cindy Ingenthron, Nixa; and

Graveside services were Friday, June 24, in Benton Branch Cemetery with
the Rev. Ben Taylor officiating. Music was provided by Nicolette
Taylor. Burial was under the direction of Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home
of Buffalo. Escorts were Roy Montgomery Jr., Dustin R. Dugan, Michael
L. Dugan Jr., B.J. Dugan and Kent Dugan.
Irene Dugan, Conway, was born Sept. 12, 1930, at Phillipsburg, the
daughter of Oscar and Pearl (Gann) Clark. She died June 22, 2005, at
St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield at the age of 74
years, 9 months and 10 days.
She was united in marriage with Billy Roger Dugan on May 6, 1949, and
three children were born of this union.
She was a retired cook for Bennett Spring Dining Lodge and had
previously worked for McShanes Restaurant, the Rocking Chair Restaurant
and the Victorian Steak House. She was a member of Harmony Baptist
Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy, on Nov. 16,
1981. Survivors include two sons: Darrell Dugan and Michael Dugan, both
of Phillipsburg; one daughter, Bonnie Montgomery, Conway; two brothers:
Ted Clark, Caufield, and Joe Clark, Indiana; seven grandchildren:
Michael Dugan Jr., Roy Montgomery Jr., Kent Dugan, Billy J. Dugan,
Dustin R. Dugan, Jeremy Huston and Holly Huston; and five great-
grandchildren: Shelby D. Montgomery, Cody King, Devon Young, Isaiah
Huston and Hailey Young.

She was united in marriage with Loyd Earl Turner on Oct. 31, 1950. She
was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loyd, on Aug. 12,
1985; three sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include three sisters: Betty Shively, Marshall, Hazel Turner,
Buffalo, and Helen Turner, Long Lane; one brother, Jerry Cline, Long
Lane; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Robert Lee Davenport, age 61, of Highlandville, passed away Sunday,
June 19, 2005.
He was born November 27, 1943, the son of Robert Monroe and Nina
(Johnson) Davenport.
He served his country in the U.S. Army serving two tours of duty in
Vietnam. Following retirement from the Army in 1982 he lived in Denver,
Colorado where he did auto body repairs. He moved to Springfield in
1990, and on December 23, 1994 he and his wife, Joan were married.
He was a member of V.F. W. Post 3404 in Springfield. Robert liked being
with friends and always enjoyed a good laugh.
Survivors include: His wife, Joan; a son, Ed Davenport, Nebraska; two
step-sons, Neil Green, Highlandville, and David McIntosh and wife
Jackie, Florida; two aunts, Betti Lott, Springfield, and Alma Wilson,
Billings; and an uncle, David Davenport, Springfield.
His parents and a brother, Jerry Lee Davenport, preceded him in death.
A graveside memorial service was held Monday, June 27, in Missouri
Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
Full Military Honors was provided by Fort Leonard Wood Memorial Team.
Arrangements were under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.

Rabon Louis Campbell, age 61, went to be with the Lord on June 23
(2005) in Houston, Texas, after a long and courageous fight with cancer.
Born December 10, 1943, the son of Kingston and Juanita Nichols
Campbell in Mt. Judea. He was a commercial construction engineer for
over 34 years having built many buildings, including several of the
Hanks Furniture stores, as well as the Noble & Associates headquarters
in Springfield. He designed and maintained the landscape at River Cliff
for which he was exceptionally proud. He worked at Noble, maintaining
the building until he was physically unable to continue working. He
took great pride in his work, often working late hours and traveling to
job sites.
He never met a stranger and his helping hand and generosity will be
missed by many. He was an avid NASCAR fan, faithfully watching every
race and often traveling to the race track. he also enjoyed traveling
and collecting antiques. he was a veteran of Desert Storm and a retired
member of the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade.
He was a faithful husband and father, always providing for his family.
He was also a much loved grandfather to three granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Campbell of Springfield; a son,
Michael Campbell of Springfield, his wife, Cristie, and their daughter,
Brandi; a daughter, Stacey Witty of Harrison, her husband, Stephen, and
their twin daughters, Hannah and Rebecca; a brother, Alton Campbell of
Jasper; a step-father, Kenneth Bohannon of Jasper; many nieces,
nephews, and too many friends to count.
Funeral services were Wednesday, June 29, at 11 a.m. in Greenlawn
Funeral Home South followed by a full-military burial in the National
Cemetery at 1 p.m. Visitation was Tuesday, June 28, form 6 to 8 p.m. in
the funeral home.

and a granddaughter, Reanna Dawn.
She is survived by her children, Sheilah Kolb of Marble Falls, Bobby
Cain of Monticello and Ricky Cain of Hampton; her father, Oliver Long
of North Little Rock; brothers and sisters, Linda Henson of Fort Worth,
Texas, Laurin McLaurin of California, Laurine McLaurin of Atlanta, Ga.,

JAMES MONTGOMERY HOUSTON
James Montgomery Houston, one of the oldest
pioneer settlers of this part of the country, died at
his home, four miles northwest of Eldon December
20, 1922, after a very brief illness. Mr. Houston was
born on this farm March 9, 1838, and had lived there
all his life; his father, Alfred M. Houston, having
entered the farm on which he pitched his tent, April
1, 1828, and entered forty acres of the farm under
the graduation act at twenty-five cents per acre and
built the log house in which James Montgomery was
raised.
Mr. Houston was a very careful and conservative man,
honest and upright in his dealings and a man well
respected in the community in which he lived so long.
The body was laid to rest in the old Salem cemetery.
The services were in charge of th Masonic Order.
He was the fifth of a family of nine children born to
Alfred M. and Melinda Houston, of which Milton A.
Houston of Beagle, Oregon and Mrs. Josie Brown and
William A. Houston survive.
In 1876 he was married to Miss Sallie A. White,
daughter of George W. and Mary White, of Barnett,
Mo., who survives her husband.
For many years he has been a consistent member
of the Christian Church, with membership at Barnett,
Mo; was amember of Ionia Lodge, Eldon, Chapter of
Free Masons; also of chapter 128 of Royal Arch Masons
at Eldon; and of the Etterville Lodge of the I. O. O. F.

Glennis Chloe Phillips, 83, Brumley, died Saturday, July 9, 2005, at
Lake Regional Hospital.
She was born July 2, 1922, a daughter of Willard Alonzo and Verdie
Polly (Witt) Shelton, who preceded her in death. On August 23, 1945,
she was married to Jessie Elishia Phillips, who also preceded her in
death.
Survivors include: five sons, Kenneth Dale Phillips, Jesse W. Phillips,
Louie Paul Phillips, Lonnie Earl Phillips, and Lowell Mark Phillips;
one daughter, Glenda Shackelford; 12 grandchildren and nine great-
grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, at Rekus
Funeral Home in Iberia. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral
home.

Bailey Otto Wolfe
The funeral for Bailey Wolfe, 70, was held
Saturday at the First Christian Church with Rev.
Clark Sanner, the pastor, conducting the
service. Burial was in the Eldon Cemetery under
the direction of Phillips Funeral Home.
Bailey Otto Wolfe, son of Nicholas and Mary
Granstaff Wolfe, was born in Morgan County,
September 6, 1881. He spent most of his life
on the farm where he was born.
After the death of his parents, he and his brother,
Hargett, purchased the farm and operated it as the
Wolfe Brothers Farm and were well known stockmen
and farmers for many years. After his retirement he
went to California for a short time and then returned
to Eldon to make his home.
Saturday, September 16, 1952, he suffered a heart
attack and died early Thursday morning at his home.
Mr. Wolfe is survived by his brother, Hargett of Bell,
California and three sisters, Mrs. Luella Taylor, Mrs.
Leona Harvey, both of Eldon, and Mrs. Rosa Deffenbaugh
of Olean. He was preceded in death by his parents,
four brothers, George W., Charles W., John I and James
E.and two sisters, Ora and Marjie Wolfe.

Floyd Montgomery Roberts, son of George Daniel, and Martha Ann Roberts
was born Feb. 21, 1900 at Avery, Mo. He passed away at 6:15 Feb. 12,
1960 at his home at Hartshorn, Mo. making his age at time of death 59
years, 11 months and 21 days.
He was united in marriage to Anna Estella Murfin October 15, 1931. His
mother, father, sister, and one brother preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Anna of the home, one son,
Eugene Roberts of Villa Ridge, Mo., four brothers, and four sisters:
Athel Ihrig, Walnut Grove, Mo. James Roberts of West Plains, Mo., Fay

Chester Green, son of James H. and Zettie Green was born June 4, 1912
near Hartshorn, Mo. in Texas County. He departed this life April 24,
1978 at the St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View, Mo. making his age
65 years, 10 months, and 20 days.
He was united in marriage to Elsie Geraldine Michel on October 9,
1932. To this union was born a daughter, Gloria and two sons, Gordon
and Glenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Andrew.
He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Elsie, of the home; one
daughter Gloria Roberts of Jefferson County, Mo. and two sons, Gordon
of Hartshorn, Mo., and Glenn of Summersville, Mo., one sister Myrtle
Sinclair of Toppenish, Wash., two brothers, Allen of Pueblo., and
Virgil of Klamath Falls, Oregon, eight grandchildren and three great
grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and
friends.
Chester grew up and spent his entire life around the Hartshorn area
except for a brief period of time in St. Louis. He was known and loved
by those who knew him.
A large space will be left vacant with his family that can be filled
only with the happy memories with which he provided them.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 27, 1978 at 10:00 a.m. in
the Summersville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Maraman
officiating.
Burial was in Summersville City Cemetery under the direction of the
Summersville Funeral Home.

Rachel Roann Allee Bond
Rachel Roann Allee was born Dec 12, 1845 and left her earthly home Dec
13, 1924 being at the time of her death, 79 years and one day old. She
united in marriage to Berry C Bond May 12, 1887. Mr Bond preceded her
to the grave some four years ago.
To this union one son was born, who died in infancy. She united with the
Baptist church early in life. After her marriage to Mr Bond, she placed
her membership with the Olean Christian Church, of which she was a
devoted member at the time of her death. Besides a large number of
friends and neighbors, there are left to mourn her death, eight step-
children and several nieces and nephews. [hard to read]
Short funeral service were conducted at the home Monday at 10 AM after
which the body was laid to rest in the Mt Pleasant cemetery.

Clinton Michel
Memorial service held Friday June 11, 1950 for Sergeant Clinton L.
Michel son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Michel of Hartshorn, Mo. He was
born October 8, 1921 and in the spring of 1941 he entered into the
armed services and served until he met his death in North Africa in
March 1943.
He leaves to mourn his loss, besides father and mother, four brothers,
Vernie, Harold, and Clarence of Hartshorn, Norman of Kansas City, and
one sister, Mrs. Elsie Green of Hartshorn.
Services were held at the Summersville Cemetery Friday 4:30 p.m.
Leland I. Heriford minister and a choir from the Summersville Baptist
Church. The pallbearers were Dock Perkins, Homer Fleming, Wayne
Crawford, Truman McConnell, Denver Kirkman and John Austin.
Sergeant Hunter from the U.S. Army accompanied the body to
Summersville and presented the family the American Flag at the close of
the service.

Cassville, Mo., June 16-Funeral services were conducted for Thomas A.
Edgmond, 62 years old, who died early Sunday morning at his home near
Jenkins. Services were held at the Clio community building with the
Rev. Oliver Coons officiating. Burial was in the Clio cemetery under
the direction of the Koon Funeral home.
Mr. Edgmond was a retired farmer and carpenter and had resided in the
Jenkins community 52 years.

James F. Roberts, Sr. son of the late George D. and Martha (Baugh)
Roberts was born August 28, 1902 in Avery, Missouri. He departed this
life November 14, 1975 at Columbia, Mo. making his age 73 years, two
months and 17 days.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Alice Murfin on October 17, 1930, at
Tuscumbia, Missouri. To this union five sons and four daughters were
born.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Floyd,
Clifford and a sister Alva Roberts.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth of the home, five sons; George E.
Roberts of West Plains, Mo.; James F. Roberts Jr. of Manhattan Beach
California, Charles D. Roberts of Rogersville, Mo., William C. Roberts,
of Cypress California; Robert Wayne Roberts of Columbia, Mo., four
daughters, Juanita Crawford of Summersville, Mo.; Donna Zwiener of
Madison, Alabama; Brenda Collins of West Plain, Mo.; and Linda Gould of

Anna Estella Roberts, daughter of the late Charles and Margaret
Murfin, was born August 26, 1909 at Hartshorn, Mo.
She died August 28, 1967 at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis making her
age at time of death 58 years and two days.
Anna grew up around Hartshorn and lived there most of her life.
She was married to Floyd M. Roberts October 15, 1931.
She leaves to mourn her passing one son, Eugene, daughter-in-law, and
four granddaughters all of Jefferson County, Mo.
Two sisters, Ruth Roberts of West Plains, Mo. Marie Michel of
Hartshorn, Mo.; two brothers, Elmer Murfin of Houston, Mo., Clarence
Murfin of Mill Valley, California.
Her husband Floyd and one brother, Charley, preceded her in death.
Anna professed her faith in Christ at an early age. She was a very
active worker for the ladies auxiliary and VFW of Summersville, Mo.
Anna had many relatives and a host of friends and will be sadly missed
by all who knew her.

Stella Mae Duncan, 98, Eldon, died Tuesday at Osage Beach Health Care
Center. She was born November 29, 1898 in Iberia, a daughter of Simon
and Nancy Whittle Keeth. She was married November 22, 1921, in
Tuscumbia, to George W. Duncan who died September 21, 1965.
Survivors include: four sons, Tennyson Duncan, Eldon, Donald Lee Duncan
and Oleph Duncan, both of Brumley, and Raymond Duncan, Richland; one
daughter, Juanita Wall, Crocker; one step-son, Noel Duncan, Pacific;
one stepdaughter, Vergie Pemberton, Osage Beach; two brothers, Olie
Keeth, Iberia; and Connie Keeth, state of Washington; one sister,
Gertrude Robinson, Lake Ozark; 28 grandchildren; 37 great-
grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and
great-great-great-grandchildren. Three sons and two daughters preceded
her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The
Rev. Doug Hawkins will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Union
Cemetery, near Brumley. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. Herman Michel age 81 passed away at the Aurora hospital on
Wednesday June 9 at 8:55 p.m. where he had been a patient for a week.
He had made his home on route one Marionville for a number of years.
Mr. Michel is survived by one daughter, Miss Anna Michel of the home,
three sons, Lewis Michel of Aurora, Mo., Emmett Michel and Roy Michel
of Marionville, Mo. eight grandchildren, three great-grand children;
one brother, Charlie Michel of Hartshorn, Mo.
Funeral services were held at the Bradford-Surridge Chapel at 2:30
p.m. Friday June 11. Interment under direction of Bradford-Surridge was
in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. Fred McPhail officiated and was
assisted by Rev. H.V. Wells. The Wells quartet sang.
Pallbearers were: Harry Toyntou, Louis Baum, Fred Peiter, Lester
Davis, Ward Maples and S.L. Rapp.

Hazel May Humphrey, 76, Iberia, died Monday at Ven-Cor Hospital, St.
Louis. She was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Brumley, a daughter of David and
Lura Robinett Brown. She was married Sept. 29, 1976, in In Iberia, to
Earl R. Humphrey, who survives at the home. She was a member of the
Iberia First Baptist Church, Iberia VFW Post 6167 Ladies Auxiliary and
the Iberia Community Club.
Other survivors include: two sons, Joe George, O'Fallon, and John
George, Rantoul, Illinois; three daughters, Elaine Cleland, Marshfield,
Carolyn Parker, Dixon and Linda Lee, Iberia; one brother Claude Brown,
Ontario, Oregon; one stepson, Glen Humphrey, Iberia; 15 grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Iberia First Baptist Church. The
Rev. David George and the Rev. Quintin Davis will officiate. Burial
will be in Hawkins Cemetery near Brumley. Visitation will be from 5-8

Dorothy Dale Wilson Humphrey, 85, Springfield, formerly of Jefferson
City, died Tuesday at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield. She was
born October 3, 1912, in Iberia, a daughter of Everett G. and Emma
Gardner Wilson. She was married January 27, 1934, in Houston, Missouri
to W. Byron Humphrey, who preceded her in death.
A published poet, she was a public school teacher. She taught several
years in the Jefferson City School System before retiring in 1973. She
graduated from Iberia Academy and Junior College and from Lincoln
University with a bachelor's degree in 1957. She was past Worthy Matron
of Order of the Eastern Star 537, Iberia; a member of the National
Retired Teachers Association; the Major League Baseball Players Alumnae
Association; South Haven Baptist Church; and the Poetry Academy. She
taught Sunday school at various Baptist churches for more than 50 years.
Survivors include: two daughters, Virginia Lee Haymes, Springfield, and
Paula Gwynn Takagi, Tucson, Arizona; one brother, Grant Wilson, Iberia;
and three grand children. Services will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at
Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield, The Rev. Paul Swadley and the
Rev. J.D. Lynch will officiate. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m.
Friday in Iberia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Thursday.

Ina Lucille Earp, 77, Iberia, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Care Center,
St. Elizabeth. She was born Sept. 27, 1920, in Iberia, a daughter of
Loren and Electa Thompson Atwell. She was married Aug. 19, 1939, in
Iberia to Phillip Earp, who survives at the home.
She worked from 1956-1976 at L. B. Manufacturing in Iberia. She worked
from 1976-1980 at Jack's Crispy Chicken, Iberia. She attended the
Iberia Nazarene Church.
Other survivors include: one son, Jack Earp, Iberia; one daughter,
Pamela Graham, Camdenton; three brothers, Gene Atwell, Carl Atwell and
J. R. Atwell, all of Eldon; one sister, Dean Smith, Vandalia; nine
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. One daughter, Patricia
Barnart, and one grandson preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia.

Thurston Karr, 89, Iberia, died Monday at St. Marys Health Center. He
was born October 21, 1908 in Iberia, a son of George and Cordelia Keeth
Karr. He was Married February 21, 1933, in Tuscumbia, to Evelyn Elzora
Scott, who died August 2, 1990. He was Married September 24, 1994, to
Flora Humphrey, who died February 24, 1995. A self-employed carpenter,
he also was a woodworker and clock maker. He was a member of the
Worldwide Church of God.
Survivors include: one son, Wendell B. Karr, Lenexa, Kansas; one
daughter, Joy Flaugher, Rocky Mount; four stepsons, Robert Humphrey,
Harold Humphrey, Bill Humphrey and Roy Humphrey; three stepdaughters,
Marilyn Luechtefeld, Jane Luechtefeld and Janet Abernathy; one brother,
Lincoln J. Karr, Lenexa; one sister, Esmul Wall, Tuscumbia; six
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One son, Lowell Karr
preceded him in death.

Ida A. Wilson, 93, Jefferson City, died Wednesday at Osage Beach Health
Care Center. She was born June 5, 1904, in Miller County, a daughter of
Levi and Annie Williams Hawken. She was married Nov. 12, 1921, in
Bagnell, to Willard W. Wilson, who died May 21, 1981.
She was a lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area and attended
school in rural Miller County. A homemaker, she was a member of
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m.
Saturday at Freeman Chapel. The Rev.Jim McGowin will officiate. Burial
will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens (Jefferson City). Visitation will

Brumley, to Millard Roscoe Scott, who died May 18, 1984. She was a
homemaker and a member of Iberia First Christian Church.

Hospital, Osage Beach. She was born May 29, 1909, in Miller County, a
daughter of Albert and Effie Barnhart Keeth. She was married in 1931 in
St. Louis, to Charles Kellison, who died in 1936. She was married March
14, 1938, in Brumley, to Wilford G. Winfrey, who died March 13, 1987.
She was a member of Mount Union Church of Christ, Brumley, and attended
the Iberia Academy.
Survivors include: two sons, Ronnie Winfrey, Brumley, and Duane
Winfrey, Navarre, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Wilma Colvin, Jefferson
City, Helen Jean Grip, Bethesda, Md., and Terry Abrams, Santa Rosa,
Calif.; one sister, Lorene Lupardus, Iberia; 18 grandchildren and 24
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth

died Sunday at Indian Meadows Nursing Center, Overland Park. She was
born May 25, 1914, in Miller County, a daughter of Horace G. and Cora
Duncan Allee. She was married March 31, 1931, to Harry R. Pope, who
died in 1994. She lived in the Kansas City area. After retirement, she
also lived in Laurie and Montreal.
Survivors include: two sons, Donald Pope, Overland Park, and Warren
Pope, Collinsville, Illinois; two daughters, Neta Pope, Florissant, and
Susan Hilliard, Kansas City; two brothers, Archie Allee, Sleeper, and

William Ernest Humphrey Sr., 93, St. Peters, formerly of Iberia, died
Thursday at Barnes Jewish Christian Hospital, St. Peters. He was born
Dec. 1, 1904, in Iberia, a son of Anville and Laura Atwell Humphrey. He
was married Sept. 12, 1942, in Warrenton, to Gladys L. Frisch, who
survives at the home.
A resident of the St. Louis area since the mid 1970s, he was employed
at Fort Leonard Wood until his retirement in 1969. He was a member of
Iberia United Methodist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include: two sons, William E. Humphrey Jr., St.
Charles, and John C. Humphrey, St. Peters; three sisters, Cleo
Shockley, Swasea, Ill., Crethen Hinson, Kansas City, and Bernice

Farris E. Wall, 60, Montreal, died August 29, 1998, at Osage Beach
Health Care Center, Osage Beach. He was born September 6, 1937, in
Eldon, a son of Ora P. and Mabel F. Karr Wall. He was married November
15, 1957, in Brumley, to Louise Frederick, who survives at the home. A
lifelong resident of the Camden County area, he was a well driller and
a member of Union Baptist Church.

Ruby Ethel Robinson Ferguson, 88, Joplin, died July 6, 1998, in Joplin.
She was born July 25, 1909 in Ulman, a daughter of George and Opal
Colvin Robinson. She was married May 1, 1932, in Iberia to Audrey L.
Ferguson, who died March 26, 1982. She lived in Iberia from 1932 to
1985 when she moved to Eldon. She lived in Eldon until 1994 before
moving to Joplin.
A Brumley High School graduate, she attended Iberia Junior College and
Southwest Baptist College, Bolivar, where she received her teaching
certificate. After teaching for a number of years, she returned to
college and graduated from Lincoln University where she received a
bachelor's degree in elementary education. She taught school for more
than 40 years in Miller County and the Iberia school system, retiring
in 1972. She was a member of Iberia United Methodist Church. She was a
member of the Retired Teacher's Association of Missouri and Royal
Neighbors of America.
Survivors include: one daughter, Marilyn Ponder, Joplin; two brothers,
Gerald P. Robinson, Daphne, Ala., and Bryant L. Robinson, Wellington,
Kan.; and two grandchildren.

1978.
She was a homemaker and long-time Miller County resident. She was a
member of the Baptist church. She served as a Democratic committee
woman for many years.

Gertrude A. Phillips, 83, Jefferson City, died Jan. 2, 1999, at Capital
Region Medical Center. She was born June 16, 1915, in Miller County, a
daughter of Denver and Llizzie Kiser Bilyeu. She was married Sept. 7,
1934, in Tuscumbia, to Stanley Phillips, who survives at the home.
She attended school in Kaiser. A lifelong resident of Central Missouri,
she was employed by Oberman Manufacturing Co. She then owned the Polly
Gray Beauty Shop for several years. She co-owned and co-operated the
Shady Rest Resort at Lake of the Ozarks until her retirement in 1978.
She was a member of Highway 54 Church of Christ and the Jefferson City
Bowling Association. She also is survived by one brother, Truman
Bilyeu, Kaiser.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary. Rick Yoder

13, 1899, in Brumley, a daughter of Jonah and Ida Silsby Hutsler. She
was married December 24, 1919, in Ulman, to Oliver Floyd Wall, who died
May 20, 1945.
A lifelong resident of Miller County, she was a homemaker. She was a
member of the Christian Church. Survivors include: three sons, Clark
Wall, Iberia, Nyle Wall, Stoutland, and Larry Wall, Brumley; one
daughter, Thelma Meredith, Iberia; one sister, Goldie Scott, Iberia; 20
grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by

stepson, Glen Wall, and three infant children.

Barney H. Hutsler, 92, Iberia, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Care
Center. He was born August 18, 1902 in Brumley, a son of Jonah and Ida
Silsby Hutsler. He was married March 19, 1924, in Tuscumbia, to Julia
Ann Smith, who died August 5, 1978. He was city Marshall in Iberia for
32 years. He worked for several years as a butcher at Fort Leonard Wood
and after retirement worked as a custodian for many years at Iberia
School District.
Survivors include one son, Jewell "Bud" Hutsler, Iberia; three sisters,
Marie Wall, Brumley, Eunice Spearman and Goldie Scott, both of Iberia;
five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One son, Gene
Hutsler, died June 18, 1951.

Center, Columbia. He was bonr February 10, 1921 in Brumley, a son of
Jacob and Leola Phillips Ash. He was married February 22, 1942, to
Dessie D. Moss, who died October 30, 1978. He was married June 4, 1982,
in Miller County, to Faye P. Rowell, who survives at the home.
A lifelong resident of Miller County, he was employed as a school bus
driver by the Brumley School District and School of the Osage for 34
years until his retirement. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was
a member of Kaiser Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6514 and the Rodden
Church of Christ, near Brumley.
Other survivors include: two sons, Bobby Moss, Iberia, and Jackie Ash,
Brumley; two daughters, Sharon Jeffries and Evelyn Williams, both of
Brumley; three stepdaughters, Marian Hess and Myrna Luttrell, both of

1995. An evangelist, he was pastor of Hephzibah Holiness Church and
Camp, Dixon.

Spurgeon T. Atwill, 89, Iberia, died Wednesday at St. Marys Health
Center. He was born September 9, 1905 in Iberia, a son of Lewis and
Rosetta Rowland Atwill. He was married June 3, 1942 in Vienna to Sylvia
Pemberton, who died February 13, 1974.
He owned and operated an auto repair shop in Iberia from 1940-1951. In
the early 1950s he toured the country with the Lake of the Ozarks
Square Dance Team. He served as state representative from Miller County
for eight years, and was Republican party whip and caucus chairman. He
worked as an auditor for the Missouri Department of Liquor Control for
10 years, retiring in 1974.
Survivors include: one son, Daniel Atwill, Columbia; one brother, Floyd
Atwill, Waynesville; and six grandchildren. One son, Jerry Atwill, and
one daughter, Lila Lee Pais, preceded him in death. Services will be at
10 a.m. Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Duncan Skiles
will officiate. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.

Nursing Home, Tuscumbia. She was born February 28, 1915, in Tuscumbia,
a daughter of Tony and Minnie Nally Beard. She was married December 3,
1932 , in Tuscumbia, to George O. Wickham, who died August 8, 1988. A
homemaker, she lived in the Tuscumbia area for most of her life. She
was a member of the Church of Christ.

General Hospital, Osage Beach. She was born June 22, 1909 in Miller
County, a daughter of Johnnie and Emma Hensley Blankenship. She was
married November 16, 1928, in Iberia, to Earl O. Ponder who survives at
the home. A homemaker, she was a member of Hickory Point Baptist
Church, near Iberia. She was a volunteer at the Senior Citizens Center.

Ponder, Granite City, Illinois; one daughter, Betty Hutchinson,

Ruth Humphrey, 84, Iberia, died Sunday at Miller County Nursing Home.
She was born March 19, 1910 in Miller County, a daughter of Felix and
Mary Jones Bond. She was married on June 7, 1927, in Linn Creek, to
Raymond Humphrey, who died April 1, 1968.
She was a lifelong resident of Iberia. She retired from the Iberia
Garment Factory, where she worked for many years. She was a member of
the Iberia First Christian Church. Survivors include one son, FRancis
P. Humphrey, Iberia; one daughter, Barbara Givens, Normandy; three
sisters, Lefty Kinder, Iberia, Irene Hines, Webster Groves, and Ruby
Lamb, Crocker; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six
great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Stevinson-Rekus Funeral

Loranzia Gail Brumley, 73, Douglass, Kan., formerly of Oak Grove, died
Thursday at the Veterans Hospital in Wichita, Kan.
He was born Oct. 16, 1919, in Crocker, a son of Andrew and Frances
Duncan Brumley. He was married May 9, 1939 in Iberia to Mae E. Shelton,
who survives at the home.
He had been employed for many years with Duff and Repp Furniture in
Independence. He was a member of Mt. Union Church of Christ near
Brumley and VFW Post No. 8323 in Douglass. He was a World War II U.S.
Army veteran.

for Josephine Casey Ewing, 93, Edwardsville, Kansas, a native of Iberia
who died Wednesday. She was born May 23, 1902, a daughter of John S.
and Martha Barlow Casey of Iberia. She was first married to Joseph E.
Drew. In 1945, she was married to Thomas J. Ewing who died in 1961
Her family moved to Kansas City when she was 16. She was graduated from
Westport High School and Kansas City Business College. She was a member
of the Edwardsville Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, John
Drew, and a daughter, Shirley Drew Ray, both of the Kansas City area.

She retired from Fort Leonard Wood where she worked as a dental
assistant. She was a member of Iberia First Baptist Church and a member
of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years. She is

married March 1, 1973, in Lake Ozark, to Clara Rhodes, who survives at
the home. He worked for Bonanza Boat Manufacturing, Eldon, until his
retirement, and has worked for Richline Boat Manufacturing, Richland.
He was a member of Mt. Union Church of Christ, near Brumley.

Ada Shelton, 92, Brumley, died Friday at Lake Ozark General Hospital,
Osage Beach. She was born May 9, 1902 at Iberia, a daughter of Charles
and Emma Wall Condra. On December 12, 1927, she was married at
Tuscumbia to Gilbert Shelton, who died on November 4, 1985.
She had lived at Brumley the past 56 years. She and her husband owned
and operated Brumley Mercantile, and she worked there for 17 years
before her retirement. She was a member of Brumley Baptist Church and a
charter member of Iberia Chapter No. 537, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include: a son, Glen Shelton, Brumley; two daughters, Anna
Ruth McDonald, Florissant, and Inah Lou Wilson, Iberia; a sister, Anna
Bond, Iberia; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Ellis was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Irene, in 1996,

Stella B. Keyes, 93, Iberia, died July 12, 2000, at St. Marys Health
Center. She was born November 2, 1906, in Hawkeye, a daughter of Fred
P. and Effie M. Lawson Ferguson. She was married Aug. 31, 1926 in
Waynesville, to Brent Edward Keyes, who died October 13, 1971.
A 1925 graduate of Crocker High School, she sold Avon cosmetics for
more than 40 years. She was a member of Iberia United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Neil Keyes, Hartsburg; one daughter, Lora
Lee Bilderback, Florissant; four grandchildren, seven great-
grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. One grandson preceded her
in death.

Glen W. Ferguson, 97, Springfield, MO, died at 1 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17,
1998 in Springfield Residential Care Center.
He was born December 30, 1900 in Iberia MO to the late William T. and
Mary Frances Smith Ferguson. He was a Frisco Railroad employee for 39
years. After retirement, he spent four and a half years as an employee
of the Assemblies of God in their Headquarters building. His home and
his church were the focal points of his life.
He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a
Deacon, chairman of the ushers, and as an usher, and his friendly
outgoing manner suited him perfectly when he acted as a Greeter. He
assisted with the Lord's Supper in a significant manner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers,
and five sisters. He is survived by his wife, Sara Gladys (Evans)
Ferguson; a brother and his wife, Walter and Glennis Ferguson; a niece,
Dorma Ferguson, all of Springfield; and many nieces, nephews, cousins
and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 1998 in the First
Baptist Church chapel with Dr. T.T. Crabtree officiating under the care
of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn
Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the
funeral home, however, friends may call after 1 p.m.

George Gail Golden, 68, Eldon, died Thursday at St. Marys Health
Center. He was born June 17, 1924 in Eugene, a son of Oliver and Iva
Rosalee Jenkins Golden. He was married January 12, 1946, in Kansas
City, Kansas to Loretta Morris who survives at the home. He was a
corrections officer for the Missouri Department of Corrections for 29
years, retiring in 1987, and a member of the Association of Retired
Missouri State Employees. He operated the DX Service Station in Eldon
for several years. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a life
member of VFW Post 2442, Eldon.
Other survivors include: four sons, Larry Golden, George Golden and
Bill Golden, all of Eldon, and Bob Golden, Weston; two brothers, Arch
Golden, Topeka, Kansas and Lawrence Golden, Eldon; one sister, Margaret

John Thomas Grady, age 81, of Iberia, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at
his daughter's home in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Survivors include: his wife, Eva, of the home; three daughters, Sandy
Jo Teeple of Mountain Home, Ark., Sue Hurt of Marysville, Ind., and
Sharon Czarnecki of Nev.; one brother, Bill Grady of Granite City,
Ill.; one sister, Ruby Anderson of Granite City, Ill.; four
grandchildren; four step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and
four step-greatgrandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, at Rekus Funeral

Jewell Loretta Sooter, age 89 of Dixon, died Friday, December 17, 2004,
at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She was born in Miller County
on November 3, 1915, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Mattie Jane
(Lair) Pendleton. On June 25, 1936, in Swedeborg, she was married to
Charles Martin Sooter, who preceded her in death on November 28, 1996.
She worked for the Dixon MFA and also the IGA Grocery in Dixon until
her retirement. She was active for many years with the Dixon Youth
Recreation Association and was a member of Fairview Christian Church
near Iberia.
Survivors include: three sons, Ned Sooter and wife, Penny and Philip
Sooter and wife, Marilyn all of St. Charles and John Sooter of Dixon;
one brother, Dora Pendleton of Florissant; two sisters, Ethel Davidson
of Valreco, Florida, and Lillie Bryant of Pontiac, Michigan; six
grandchildren, Heather, Keirsten, Haven, Taryn, Aaron, and Ryan Sooter;
and three great-grandchildren, Tyler Sooter, Savannah Lovell, and
Austin Nickles. Five brothers, Charles, Edward, Herman, Dillard, Clyde,
and Emmett Pendleton; and one sister, Ellen Donaldson, preceded her in
death.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, at Rekus
Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Gene Edwards will officiate. Interment
will be in Union Cemetery near Iberia. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m.

Perry B. Grady, 81, Arnold, formerly of Iberia, died April 4, 2001 at
St. Anthonys Medical Center, St. Louis. He was born May 6, 1919 in
Iberia, a son of Walter and Martha "Queen" Wilson Grady. He was married
August 10, 1946 in Iberia, to Loetta Maxine Barr, who survives at the
home. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Iberia VFW
Post 6167 and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He
farmed and was a member of Hickory Point Baptist Church, near Iberia.
Other survivors include one daughter, Patsy Ann Plemmons, Arnold; three
brothers, John Grady and Herbert Grady, both of Iberia, and Bill Grady,
Granite City, Ill.; one sister, Ruby Anderson, Granite City; two
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The
Rev. Ken Gray will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in
Livingston Cemetery, near Iberia. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m.
today (April 6, 2001).

Obituary: Jefferson City Post Tribune
Vivian Sue Hawkins, 74, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, January
16,2005, at her sister's home. She was born August 8, 1930, a daughter
of C.R. "Ted" and Mabel Foster Hawkins.
Sue graduated from Brumley High School and earned her B.S. degree from
Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg. She earned her M.S. and
Ed.D. degrees from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Dr. Hawkins
taught at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, and Trinity
University, San Antonio, Texas, as well as public schools in Missouri
and Texas, specializing in remedial reading.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, where she volunteered
in the food distribution program. She was also a volunteer for the Red
Cross, Meals on Wheels, and was active in Learning in Retirement.
Sue is survived by two sisters: Mary Collins of Bloomington, Minnesota;
Judy Hawkins of Jefferson City; three nieces: Katherine Bauer of
Mineola, Minnesota; Suzanne Woods of New York, New York; Kelly Steuart
of St. Paul, Minnesota; and one nephew, Matthew Steuart of Minneapolis,
Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Teddy
Jean Woods; and two infant brothers.
Friends will be received from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Houser
Millard Funeral Directors - Jefferson City Chapel. Funeral services
will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at the Houser
Millard Funeral Directors - Jefferson City Chapel with Rev. Barbara K.
Gulick officiating. Interment will follow in the Hawkins Cemetery near
Brumley with George Smith officiating.

Reber Lane Hawkins, 82, Ulman, died Tuesday at Eldon Healthcare Center.
He was born Dec. 4, 1911, at Brumley, the son of Roy and Susie Jones
Hawkins. He was married March 15, 1934, to Faye McClain, who survives
in Eldon. A farmer and cattleman, he worked for McDonnell Douglas
Aircraft and was a corrections officer at the Missouri Penitentiary.
Other survivors include one daughter, Danita Hawkins, Brazito; three
sons, Kenneth Hawkins, Ballwin, Larry Hawkins, Merrit Island, Fla., and
Gary Hawkins, Brumley; two sisters, Norma Hedges, Camdenton and Maudine
Edwards, Ulman; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.

Ruby Gardner Kennedy, 84, Iberia, died Saturday at Waynesville Life
Center. She was born September 26, 1911, in Brays, a daughter of Edward
James and Clara Newhart Helton. She was married October 1, 1929, to
Arthur Gardner, who died October 7, 1960. She was married October 15,
1982, in Crocker, to William F. Kennedy, who died April 12, 1986. She
retired as a seamstress from Ft. Leonard Wood in 1973. She was a former
member of the Iberia Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include: two sons, James K. Gardner, Iberia, and Jerry Lee
Gardner, Waynesville; two brothers, Lonnie Helton, St. Louis, and
Walter Helton, Texas; two sisters, Nellie McDonald, Pacific, and Mabel
Cudziol, Valparaiso, Ind.; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren
and one great-great-grandchild. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at

Olive E. Barnhart, 75, Versailles, formerly of Iberia, died Friday at
St. Marys Health Center. She was born September 17, 1921, near St.
Anthony in Miller County, a daughter of William and Mina Barnhart
Helton. She was married February 14, 1941, to Wilburn Rainey Barnhart,
who survives at the home.
A homemaker, she worked as head cook at the Iberia Senior Citizens
Center for seven years before retiring. She also was employed with
Richline Boat Factory in Richland. She moved to Versailles in 1995. She
was a member of the Iberia Church of the Nazarene and attended Calvary
Baptist Church, Versailles.
Other survivors include: one son, Don Barnhart, Versailles; one
brother, Clay Helton, Ventura, Calif.; three sisters, Lorene Barnhart,
Cedar Hill, Reba Young, Gainesville, and Faye Keeth, Iberia; and one
granddaughter. One son, David Dowe Barnhart, died in 1961.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The

Martin O. "Marty" Humphrey, 51 of Iberia, died May 13, 2003, at St.
John's Regional Health Center in Springfield. He was born in Rolla on
February 10, 1952, a son of Norman Merle and Eleanor Prue (Abbet)
Humphrey.
He worked for the Waynesville R-6 School District for 26 years until
his retirement. After his retirement, he enjoyed working on his farm
near Iberia and worked part-time for the Soil and Water Conservation
Service. He was a member of the Iberia First Baptist Church and was
faithful in Sunday school and church attendance. He was a member of the
Iberia and Waynesville Masonic Lodges.
Survivors include his mother, Prue Humphrey-McKee of Waynesville, one
brother, Randy Humphrey and wife Julie of Willard; and two nephews
Clint Humphrey of Columbia and Adam Humphrey of Springfield.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 15 at Rekus Funeral
Home in Iberia with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services
will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 16 at the Iberia First Baptist

Harry Hicks, 82, Iberia, died Tuesday at Capital Region Medical Center-
Southwest. He was born December 25, 1914, in St. Anthony, a son of
George and Emma Pendleton Hicks. He was married April 25, 1934, in
Iberia, to Pauline Jones, who survives at the home. He worked as a
welder at the Hazelwood School District in St. Louis County, retiring
after 21 years. He attended Ferguson Church of the Nazarene, St. Louis
County, for 24 years, and the Iberia Church of the Nazarene for 10
years.
Other survivors include five sons: Jack Hicks, Orchard, Texas, James
Hicks, Rocheport, Layne Hicks, Hillsboro, Robert Hicks, Mexico, and

Jewell "Bud" Hutsler, 76, Iberia, died April 2, 2003 at St. John's
Hospital, Springfield, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident
near Conway. He was born March 1, 1927, in Iberia, a son of Barney H.
and Julie Ann Smith Hutsler. He was married June 11, 1955 to Vonda Lee
Duncan, who survives at the home.
He retired from Lee Way Motor Freight as an over-the-road truck driver.
He was honored for driving more than one million miles accident free.
He was a member of Mason Ridge Community Church near Meta and Crocker
Christian Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Other
survivors include one daughter, Debra Dawn Fortner, St. Louis.

daughter, Juanita Wall, Crocker; one step-son, Noel Duncan, Pacific;

Jim Kinder Sr., 70, Iberia, died February 3 at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born March 28, 1926 in Picher, Okla., a son of Earl and Leftie
Bond Kinder. His mother survives in Tuscumbia. He was married Sept. 24,
1955, in Iberia to Jo Ann Stark, who survives at the home.
A lifelong resident of Iberia, he was an Army veteran of World War II
and the Korean War. He worked as a motor pool maintenance supervisor at
Fort Leonard Wood and the Missouri Department of Corrections, Jefferson
City. He served as city judge for Iberia. He was a member of Iberia
First Christian Church. He was a member of the Iberia VFW Post 6167,
the Iberia Fremont Watkins American Legion Post 105, and the Iberia
Masonic Lodge 410 AF and AM. He was a member of the Scottish Rite,
Columbia, and the Shriner's Abou Ben Adhem Temple, Springfield.
Other survivors include: three sons, Jim Kinder Jr., Mark Kinder and
Scott Kinder, all of Iberia; one brother, Okley Kinder Iberia; and six
grandchildren. Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Rekus Funeral

Roger D. King, 51, Iberia, died Sunday at Still Regional Medical
Center. He was born November 2, 1942 in Tuscumbia, a son of Marion Jr.,
and Leota Plemmons King. His mother survives in Brumley. He was married
January 9, 1988, in Iberia, to Janet Louderback, who survives at the
home.
He was a Vietnam War U.S. Marine veteran. He retired in 1990 from civil
service at Fort Leonard Wood, where he worked 25 years as a truck
driver transporting troops. He also worked from 1991 until January
transporting troops for ITT Federal Services Corporation. He was a
member of Masonic Lodge 410 A.F. and A.M., Iberia, Abou Ben Adhem
Temple, Springfield, Scottish Rite, Joplin, and Eastern Star Chapter
537, Iberia.
Other survivors include two daughters, Carol Kinder, Iberia, and
Christina King, Naples, Italy; two brothers, Ronald King, Brumley, and
Randle King, Moberly; two sisters, Brenda McDaniel and Linda Kaiser,
both of Brumley.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Stevinson-Rekus Funeral Home,

Norman Merle Humphrey, 79, Waynesville, died Sunday at General Leonard
Wood Army Community Hospital, Ft. Leonard Wood. He was born March 5,
1917 in Brays, a son of Clyde and Effie Atwell Humphrey. He was married
October 12, 1940, in California, to Prue Abbet, who survives at the
home.
He graduated from Iberia Junior College in 1938 and received Bachelor's
and Master's Degrees in education from Central Missouri State College.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was elementary principal in
Waynesville for 32 years, beginning in 1945. He was county
superintendent for Pulaski County schools for five years, and served
for six years on the Waynesville Board of Education. He was a member
and deacon at First Baptist Church, and a charter member, deacon and
treasurer at Westside Baptist Church, both in Waynesville.
Other survivors include: two sons, Randy Humphrey, Willard and Marty
Humphrey, Waynesville; one brother, Earl Humphrey, Iberia; one sister,
Fern Pendleton, Iberia; and two grandsons. Services will be at 2 p.m.

Edith Wilma Link, age 94, of Iberia, formerly of Holts Summit, died
Thursday, June 16, 2005, at St. Marys Health Center. She was born in
Miller County on June 19, 1910, a daughter of Isaac Lindsey Jr. and
Ethel (Irwin) Lawson. On September 21, 1940, in Lebanon, she was
married to R. Mason Link who survives at the home.
She retired on May 23, 1974, after 28 years as a science teacher in the
Jefferson City Senior High School under Joe Nichols, Jr. as
Superintendent of Schools. After high school, Mrs. Link attended Iberia
Academy, Iberia Junior College, and Drury College, Springfield, where
she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1933. In 1960, she earned
her Masters Degree from Lincoln University, Jefferson City. She
continued her education by attending summer science institutes in 1958
at Northeast Missouri State College, Kirksville; in 1961, Central
Missouri State College, Warrensburg; and in 1964, Stephens College
Seminar, ending with just 12 hours short of a Doctorate Degree.
Mrs. Link began her career in 1930 in elementary schools teaching
grades 1-8. She taught in the Meta Public School System. She has taught
grades 5-6 at School of the Osage, Lake Ozark, and another interesting
experience was to teach a Callaway County one room school of 5
students. Her most colorful teaching career was enjoyed at Jefferson
City where she taught mathematics, biology, zoology and botany for a
total of 28 years.
Mrs. Link will be remembered for her tireless efforts serving nine
years as co-chairman for the Greater Jefferson City Science Fairs. She
organized the J. C. Science Club at Senior High. She served two years
as president of Science Teachers of Missouri of which she was a member
and served as treasurer for the group for many years.
Mrs. Link served on National Science Teachers Association Committee for
the National Convention held in Kansas City. She was a member of the
American Association of University Women where she served as treasurer.
Mrs. Link was a member of American Business Women's Association,
American Biology Teachers Missouri Academy of Science, American Museum
of National History, Christian Church Circle, National Education
Association and Community Teachers Association. Mrs. Link has
rightfully earned many awards and honors. "The Edith W. Link Seminar"
was named in her honor each spring at the meeting of the Science
Teachers of Missouri. She has been named "Woman of the Year" an honor
presented by the American Association of University Women. She was
elected to membership in Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary teacher's
society. She was selected three different times to attend National
Summer Science Institutes. She was one of the first organizers and past
director of the Miller County Historical Scoiety Museum. She was a
member of the Hello Dolly Club in Eldon and the First Christian Church
in Jefferson City.
She is also survived by one son, Larry Bryan Link and wife Carolyn
Louise of Holts Summit. Her parents nad one brother, Winston Lawson,
preceded her in death. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday,
June 18, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Services will follow at 3
p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Barbara K. Gullick officiating.
Interment will be in Iberia Cemetery. Memorial contributions are
suggested to the Iberia Cemetery, the Miller County Historical Society,
or the Jefferson City First Christian Church Building Fund.

Jo Ann Prater, 52, Iberia, died Wednesday at Capital Region Medical
Center Southwest. She was born February 3, 1944, in Emporia, Kansas, a
daughter of Melvin and Bonnie Williams Lind. She was married March 21,
1996, in Lake Ozark, to Marvin "Red" Prater, who died June 28, 1996.
Survivors include: two sons, Gerald Berry Jr., Tuscumbia, and Steve
Berry, St. Elizabeth; two daughters, Tina Stith, Jefferson City, and
Lisa Woodward, Cross Timbers; and five grandchildren. She will be
cremated under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia.

Winston Irwin Lawson, 83, Dixon, died Friday at Capital Region Medical
Center-Southwest. He was born December 4, 1914, in Miller County, a son
of Isaac and Ethel Irwin Lawson. He was married December 23, 1933, in
Tuscumbia, to Eunice Fay Lewis, who died May 3, 1991. A farmer, he
worked at Brown Shoe Company in Dixon until his retirement. He was a
member of Wheeler Christian Church near Dixon.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mary Ann Wilson, Waynesville; one
sister, Wilma Link, Dixon; eight grandchildren and four great-
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Lawson, one
grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The
Rev. Manuel Seaton will officiate. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.

Ted Lupardus, 77, Ulman, died Monday at Lake of the Ozarks General
Hospital. He was born February 16, 1918, in Ulman, a son of H. Bert and
Lena Lamb Lupardus. He was married October 10, 1938, in Miller County
to Thelma J. Allee, who died May 18, 1991. He was married June 29,
1994, in Ulman, to Lorene Keeth Fancher, who survives of the home.
He was a member of the United Transportation Union for more than 40
years, and was also a member of the Ulman Christian Church and the
Brumley Lions Club. He was active in the Iberia Friendship Hall. Other
survivors include: four sons, Buckley Lupardus, Albuquerque, N.M.;
Kenny Lupardus, Chesterfield; Ricky Lupardus, Kansas City; and Robert
Lupardus, Jefferson City; two daughters, Betty Easterwood, Prairie
Village, Kansas, and Cynthia York, Mustang, Oklahoma; one brother,
Harley Lupardus, Ulman; one sister, Joan Roark Schraer, Ulman; 18
grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ralph L. Long, 85, Eldon, died Thursday at Capital Region Medical
Center-Memorial Campus. He was born November 12, 1909 in Brumley, the
son of Tilton and Alma Miller Long. He was married June 3, 1940 to
Sylvia I. Ramsey, who survives of the home.
A resident of the Brumley area most of his life, he was a graduate of
Brumley High School. He worked in the mercantile business and served in
the Army during World War II. He owned and operated a general
merchandise store until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of the
board of directors of the Bank of Brumley, later Central Bank of Lake
of the Ozarks. He was a charter member of the Brumley Lions Club, and
was president for two terms. He moved to Eldon in 1977. He was a member
of First Baptist Church of Eldon and of the Barnett Masonic Lodge 591.
Other survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church. The Rev.
Randall Bunch will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in
Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m.

Maude Willis, 86, Waynesville, died Sunday at Phelps County Regional
Hospital, Rolla. She was born October 13, 1905 in Iberia, the daughter
of George and Mary Adams Mace. She was married September 6, 1992 in
Tuscumbia to John Clark Willis, who died September 1959
She lived most of her life in Centralia, where she was employed as a
bookkeeper for a lumber store and a clerk for a hardware store. She
also worked for a bank in Centralia. She was a pst worthy matron of OES
chapter at Centralia and past president of the Centralia Business and
Professional Women. Following her retirement she moved back to Iberia
where she lived until moving to Waynesville about six years ago.
Survivors include one son, Raymond Carl Willis, Woodbridge, Conn.; and
one grand son. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the
Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home in Iberia, with Brother Charles Pitts
officiating. Burial will be in the Iberia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the
funeral home. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7 p.m.

Dolores M. Grady, 60, Iberia, died Tuesday at Memorial Community
Hospital. She was born July 27, 1933 in Iberia, a daughter of Herbert
and Flossie Lewis Livingston. She was married May 13, 1960, in
Harrison, Ark., to James Grady, who survives at the home.
She graduated from Iberia High School in 1950. She had lived in Granite
City, Ill., for 40 years before moving back to Iberia in 1988. A
homemaker, she was a member of the Hickory Point Baptist Church, Iberia.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Cynthia Gan, Staunton, Ill.,
and Linda Rath, Granite City, Ill.; three sons, James Grady, Randall
Grady and Ritchie Grady, all of Granite City; one brother, Lemoine
Livingston, Plantation, Fla.; one sister, Janis Lawson, Iberia; two
half-sisters, Donna Welch, Dubuque Iowa, and Elizabeth Cook, San
Antonio, Texas; her stepmother, Helen Livingston, Iberia; two

Berlyn B. Luttrell, 71, Brumley, died Monday at Lake of the Ozarks
General Hospital, Osage Beach. He was born April 26, 1925, in Brumley,
a son of Tom and Ethel Duncan Luttrell. He was married August 8, 1942,
in Bentonville, Arkansas to Doris Mae Long, who survives of the home.
An Army veteran of World War II, he worked as a roustabout in the oil
fields of Oklahoma. He was a member of Honey Springs Baptist Church
near Brumley, where he served as a deacon.
Other survivors include: one son, Dennis Norman Luttrell, Eldon; two
daughters, Cherlynn Postrach, Ramona, Oklahoma; and Mary Daugherty,
Brumley; one brother, Doral Luttrell, Russelville, one sister Faye

Sue Haynes, 89, of Lampasas, Texas, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at
Rollins Brook Community Hospital in Lampasas. She was born April 19,
1915, in Brumley to Matt L. and Millie Jane Lawson Martin. Her mother
died during the flu epidemic when she was age 2 and when she was age 6,
her father married Lura, who became just like her mother. On Feb. 9,
1936, she was married in Fulton to Max Haynes, who died Aug 31, 2004.
Mrs Haynes was a graduate of Olean High School. She worked at several
restaurants near their home near Bgnell Dam and met Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Lindbergh at one of them. She was a member of the Lampasas
Central Christian Church.
Surviving are a daughter Linda and her husband Rex (Johnson) of
Lampasas; a son John Haynes and wife Bronda of Bella Vista, Ark.; six
grandchildren, Dan Johnson of Lampasas, Max Johnson of Round Rock,
Texas, Rexanne Johnson of Guymon, Okla., Lisa Huxtable of Kansas City
and Jennifer Williams of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; and seven great-
grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dodson Funeral
Home in Lampasas. The Rev. Ed Adams will officiate. Memorials may be

Earl Edward Martin, 76, of 206 N. Chestnut St., Eldon, died Wednesday,
May 9, 1984 in a Kansas City, KS hospital. He was born November 5, 197,
at Iberia to Frank and Lillian Lawson Martin. His mother survives at
Waynesville. Mr. Martin worked as a tile setter and was with Slater
Tile Co. for 30 years. He lived in Kansas City most of his life.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Charles Martin of
Kansas City, KS; two daughters, Peggy Phalen of Kansas City, KS, and
Martha Gillum of Sandwich, Illinois; his children's mother, Mrs. Luna
(Wall) Martin of Kansas City, KS; and 10 grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral

Glenn A. Martin, 80, Columbia, died Friday at Columbia Regional
Hospital. He was born May 21, 1913, in Iberia, a son of George and
Laura Ferguson Martin. He was married January 5, 1934, in Pilot Grove,
to Vera Porter, who survives at the home.
He was a graduate of the Iberia Academy and worked for his father in
the newspaper business. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. After
returning from the war he purchased the family newspaper in Iberia and
shortly after purchased the Miller County Autogram. He later sold the
business and retired from Von Hoffman Press, Jefferson City. He and his
wife moved to Jefferson City in 1973 and to Lenoir Retirement
Community, Columbia, in 1990.
Other survivors include: two sisters, Lena Heltzell, Eldon, and Grace
Wyrick, Webster Groves. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday
at the Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home, Iberia. Dr. Ellis Livingston and
Dr. Duane Moon will officiate. The body will be cremated with interment
in the Iberia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday. The

Thelma L. (McCullough) Wall, 88, died August 15, 1990 at Providence
Place Nursing Home in Kansas City, KS. she was born in Brumley and was
married in August, 1920 to Ralph H. Wall, who died November 30, 1978.
Mrs. Wall had lived in the Kansas City, KS area since 1922. She was a
former member of hte Brumley Christian Church, Argentine Garden Club,
the Rebekah Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Dean Wall of Olathe, KS; a daughter, Connie
Gratney of Basehor, KS; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Highland Park Chapel

Ozarks General Hospital, Osage Beach. He was born February 5, 1934, in
Brumley, a son of John H. and Virginia Vaughan Moneymaker. His mother
survives in Brumley.
He owned and operated Moneymaker Construction. He was an Army veteran
and served two years as 2nd District Commissioner for Miller County. He
attended Concord Christian Church, near Crocker.

Center, Osage Beach. She was born May 12, 1907 in Miller County, a
daughter of Frank and Lona Stone Moneymaker. She was married December
17, 1922 to Willard Cochran, who died July 10, 1983. She was a lifelong
resident of Miller County and a member of Curry Church, near Iberia.
Survivors include two sons, Estel Cochran and Harold Cochran, both of
Iberia; one daughter, Reba Sanning, Iberia; four grandchildren, 11 step
grandchildren, six great-grand children, and one great-great-
grandchild. A son Farris Cochran, died August 27, 1985.

Wood Army Community Hospital. She was born November 20, 1925, in St.
Louis, a daughter of Willard F. and Fannie Shackleford Perkins. Her
mother survives in Crocker.
A homemaker, she was a member of First Congregational Christian Church,
Iberia. She was a member of the WPFA in Iberia and the Iberia Community
Club. Other survivors include: one daughter, Brenda Overby, Crocker;
three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two step-great-
grandchildren. One granddaughter preceded her in death.

James D. Pemberton, 70, of Iberia died Tuesday, December 12, 2000, at
his home. He was born June 24, 1930 in Iberia to Wade and Edna Wall
Pemberton. On January 14, 1950, he was married in Iberia to
Roberta "Bobbie" Heltzell, who survives at the home.
A lifelong resident of Iberia, Mr. Pemberton was a 1945 graduate of
Iberia High School. He was a manager for Uregas for 20 years and was
owner-manager of Pemberton Excavating in Iberia. He was co-owner of
Pemberton Furniture and Pemberton Laundrymat, both in Iberia, and
Pemberton Uregas in Iberia an Eldon. He was a member of the Iberia
United Methodist Church.
Also surviving him are three sons, James R. Pemberton of Eldon and Joe
Pemberton and John Pemberton, both of Iberia; two brothers, Victor
Pemberton of Tuscumbia and Don Pemberton of Cape Girardeau; four
sisters, Wilma Birge of Seymour, Indiana, Gretchen Jones of St. Louis,
Jean Keeth of Iberia and Janet Wilson of St. Louis; and eight grand
children. A daughter, Teresa Pemberton Dake, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Iberia United
Methodist Church with the Rev. RoseEllen Hoff and Wayne Vaughan
officiating. Burial will be in the Iberia Cemetery under the direction

Center, Tuscumbia. He was born Aug. 20, 1917, in Iberia, a son of Wade

until his retirement.

Obituary: Jefferson City Post Tribune, Saturday, November 18, 1995
Dorrel Lee "Duke" Plemmons, 67, Iberia, died Thursday at his home. He
was born December 19, 1927, in Brumley, a son of Allie C. and Alma E.
Keeth Plemmons. He was married November 23, 1945 in Mt. Vernon, to
Bonnie Ruth Simpson, who survives at the home. A World War II veteran
of the Army Air Corps, he was an active member and past Master of
Iberia Masonic Lodge 410 AF & AM, where he held a Gold Certificate of
Proficiency of the Degrees. He was a member of Iberia Order of the
Eastern Star 537, where he served as Worthy Patron. A resident of the
Iberia area for the past 37 years, he was a member of the Concord
Christian Church.
Other survivors include: two sons, Donald Plemmons, Tacoma, Washington,
and Jeffrey Plemmons, Iberia; four daughters, Ruby Kingery, Barnett,
Barbara Lea Luttrell, Brumley, and Pamela Luttrell and Rita Pemberton,
both of Iberia; five brothers, Wayne Plemmons, Sheridan, Oregon, and
Noel "Todd" Plemmons, James Troy Plemmons, Terry Plemmons and Jerry
Plemmons, all of Kansas City; three sisters, Norma Jean Schaefer and
Freda Farris, both of Iberia, and Doris Van Hooser, Kansas City; 12
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The
Rev. Lee Todd and the Rev. Larry Young will officiate. Burial will be
in Robinett Cemetery, near Brumley. Memorials are suggested to the
American Cancer Society.

Glennis Chloe Phillips, 83, Brumley, died Saturday, July 9, 2005, at
Lake Regional Hospital. She was born July 2, 1922, a daughter of
Willard Alonzo and Verdie Polly (Witt) Shelton, who preceded her in
death. On August 23, 1945, she was married to Jessie Elishia Phillips,
who also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: five sons, Kenneth Dale Phillips, Jesse W. Phillips,
Louie Paul Phillips, Lonnie Earl Phillips, and Lowell Mark Phillips;
one daughter, Glenda Shackelford; 12 grandchildren and nine great-
grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12,
at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the
funeral home.

Norma Lorene Allen, age 79, of Iberia, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005,
at St. Marys Health Center. She was born in Iberia on October 4, 1925,
a daughter of Otto and Molly (Ferguson) Ponder. On December 30, 1943,
in Oakland, California, she was married to William Kenneth Allen who
survives at the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Phyllis Vineyard of Iberia; one
granddaughter, Rebecca Watson of Columbia; one brother, Grant Ponder of
Vienna; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, at Rekus Funeral Home
in Iberia. Interment will be in Alder Springs Cemetery near Iberia.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Maggie (Slawson) Ferguson, 86 of 2440 St. Clair Ave., died at the
Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon (Ill.) at 4:45 a.m. today,
April 2, 1984. She ws a resident of the care center since October 1983.
Mrs. Ferguson was born December 3, 1898 in Miller County, MO, and moved
to this area 59 years ago. She was a member of Bethel Chapel
Pentecostal Church. Her husband, Sherman Ferguson, died in 1977.
Survivors include four sons, Lowell Ferguson, Granite City, Raymond
Ferguson, Collinsville, Robert Ferguson of Maryville and Ralph Ferguson
of Joplin, MO; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Aldridge, Fairview
Heights, Mrs. Harold (Phoebe) Knecht, Placerville, Calif. and Mrs.
Donald (Ruth) Hayes of Thayer, MO; a brother Everett Slawson of
Crocker, MO; one sister, Mrs Albert (Blanche) Alexander of Dixon, MO;
19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-
grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Davis Funeral Home, 21st
Street and Cleveland Boulevard. The Rev. Clifton Galiher will conduct
services at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at Bethel Chapel Pentecostal
Church, 25th Street and Ohio Avenue, with burial in Sunset Hill
Cemetery, Edwardsville Township.

Marvin "Red" Prater, 50, Iberia, died Friday at Truman Memorial
Veterans Hospital, Columbia. He was born October 7, 1945 in
Waynesville, a son of Victor and Ruby Adkins Prater. He was married
March 21, 1996 to JoAnn Lind, who survives of the home.
A Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the Merchant Marines
and was self employed as an air conditioner technician. Other survivors
include: one brother, Ralph Prater, Washington; and his stepfather,
Charlton Bryant, Iberia.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia.
Burial, with military honors, will be in Union Cemetery near Iberia.

Jo Ann Kinder, 60, Iberia, died today at St. Marys Health Center. She
was born July 26, 1936, in Granite City, Illinois, a daughter of
Emerson and Euna Fancher Stark. She was married September 24, 1955, in
Iberia, to Jim Kinder Sr., who died February 3, 1997.
She worked as city clerk for Iberia since 1990. She was a member of
Iberia First Christian Church. She was a member of Fremont Watkins
American Legion Post 105, VFW Post 6167 Ladies Auxiliary and Order of
the Eastern Star, all in Iberia.
Survivors include: three sons, Jim kinder Jr., Mark Kinder and Scott
Kinder, all of Iberia; one brother, William Stark, Iberia; and six
grandchildren. Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Rekus Funeral Home,
Iberia. The Rev. Stan Way will officiate. Burial will be in Iberia
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday. Memorials are
suggested to the Iberia First Christian Church Youth Multi-Purpose

Michael Lowell "Poker" Plemmons, 36, Iberia, died Wednesday at Capital
Region Medical Center Southwest. He was born Dec. 14, 1959, in Iberia,
a son of Wilbert and Marjorie Graham Plemmons. His mother survives in
Iberia.
He was a member of the Iberia Lions Club, the Iberia Masonic Lodge 410
AF & AM and the Abou Ben Adhem Temple in Springfield. He was active in
Iberia Khoury League Baseball and had worked as a corrections officer
for the Missouri Department of Corrections from 1980 to 1993.
Other survivors include: two sons, Damion Plemmons and Madison
Plemmons, both of Iberia; one daughter, Mallory Plemmons, Iberia; four
brothers, Richard Plemmons, Arnold, and Wilbert G. Plemmons, Phillip
Plemmons and James Plemmons, all of Iberia; and four sisters, Sue
Fancher and Patty Keeth, both of Iberia, Luan Whittle, Brumley, and
Pennie Strzelecki, Tuscumbia.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.

Wilbert Plemmons, 69, Iberia, died Sunday at Still Regional Medical
Center. He was born August 23, 1922, in Brumley, a son of Oliver and
Ada Duncan Plemmons. He was married December 8, 1945, in Olathe,
Kansas, to Marjorie Graham, who survives at the home.
He was a retired linen supply officer for Fort Leonard Wood Army
Hospial and served four terms as district judge for Miller County Court
from 1976 to 1982. He was a member of Mt. Unioin Church of Christ near
Brumley. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Other survivors include five sons, Richard Plemmons, Arnold, Wilbert
Plemmons, Mike Plemmons, Phillip Plemmons and James Plemmons, all of
Iberia; four daughters, Sue Fancher, Patty Keeth and Pennie
Strazelecki, all of Iberia, and LUan Whittle, Brumley; two brothers,
Leslie Plemmons and Farris Plemmons, both of Brumley; five sisters,
Leota King, Brumley, Freda Wright, Iberia, Shirley Baker, Bates City,
Darlene Singleton, Crocker, and Kate Snelling, Richland; 16

Orville Dow Shelton, 86, Crocker, died Friday at his home. He was born
November 24, 1908, near Crocker, a son of Joseph and Alice Wall
Shelton. He was married October 9, 1929 in Crocker, to Inah May Drace,
who died December 28, 1980. A farmer, he was a lifelong resident of
Pulaski County and a member of the Iberia Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Ernie Shelton, Conway, and Larry Shelton,
Crocker; two daughters, Velma May, Potosi and Dean Polley, Winchester;
one sister, Linna Stamper, Auxvasse; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-
grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. One daughter, Bonnie
Singleton, preceded him in death in 1990.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. Burial
will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m.

Veda Mae Ferguson, 89, Dixon, died Tuesday at Phelps County Regional
Medical Center, Rolla. She was born August 16, 1905 in Hancock, a
daughter of Samuel and Nancy Jones Slone. She was married October 23,
1923 in Waynesville, to Charles Leslie Ferguson, who died June 16,
1949. A homemaker, she was a member of First Christian Church, Dixon.
Survivors include: one son, Harold E. Ferguson, Denton, Texas; two
daughters, Thelma L. Griffith, Villa Ridge and Mary E. Carroll, Aledo,
Texas; two sisters, Eunice Gamzick, St. Louis, and Maggie Veasman,
Dixon; ten grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-
grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home,
Dixon. The Rev. Ronald E. Carroll will officiate. Burial will be in

was married Dec. 23, 1937, in Brumley, to Ernest Luttrell, who died
Sept. 26, 1966. A homemaker, she was a member of the Mt. Union Church
of Christ near Brumley.
Survivors include: three sisters, Lorraine Swofford, Iberia, Louevenia
Davenport, Crocker, and Mary Jo Shelton, Brumley; and one brother,
Artie Reinhart, Richland. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rekus

James Lee Thornsberry, 75, Brumley, died Wednesday at his home. He was
born September 21, 1916, in Ulman, a son of William E. and Lena Hawkins
Thornsberry. He was married January 2, 1938, in Brumley, to Ruth
Sullivan, who survives at the home. He had been employed in maintenance
with the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department. He was a
member of Ulman Christian Church, the Missouri Highway Association and
Brumley Lions Club.
Other survivors include: one son, J. Paul Thornsberry, Barnett; and two
grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Brumley Christian

Gordon V. Wall, 77, Richland, died Friday (January 15, 1993) at St.
John's Regional Health Center, Springfield. He was born February 28,
1915 in Faith, a son of James Frank and Dora Jones Wall. He was married
March 16, 1982, in Crocker to Opal Wrinkle Tabor, who survives at the
home.
He attended Curry School in Miller County and served in the Army during
World War II. He worked for Magic Chef in St. Louis for several years
and then was a civil service hospital maintenance worker at Fort
Leonard Wood, where he retired. He was a member of Curry Methodist
Church.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Gladys Wall, Glendale,
California; three brothers, Harry Wall, San Angelo, Texas, Martin Wall,
Iberia, and Wayne Wall, Holts Summit; and one sister, Edna Priess,
Sedalia. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Stevinson-Mossman Funeral
Home, Iberia. The Rev. John Bouldr3ey and the Rev. Mike Hawkins will
officiate. Burial will be in Curry Cemetery with military rites by
Iberia VFW Post members.

Lula Verle Duncan, age 98, of St. Louis, formerly of Crocker, died
Sunday, October 24, 2004, at her residence. She was born January 31,
1906, a daughter of William and Mary (Bowen) Wall.

grandchildren: Jeff Moore, Lori and husband Danny Hughes, St. Louis;
great-grandchildren: Daniel & Aaron Hughes, St. Louis; sister: Pauline

was married April 17, 1954 in Iberia, to the Rev. Archie B. Atwell, who
survives at the home. She was a homemaker and member of Hephzibah
Holiness Church, Dixon.

four daughters, Janet Dale McIntire, Titusville, PA, Diane Ruth
