*Note: From the collection Hickory County Tragedies
Mrs. Joe Cooper was buried at Cooper graveyard in 1892. AT
Donovan, about 22 years old, and his sister Ruthie Donovan, about 12,
went to the Cooper home. They took off their shoes and waded the river
2 times to get there. Mr. Donovan and 3 men carried the casket from
the house to the cemetery, a distance of 3/4 mile. There were about a
dozen people there.
