Transcriber's MISCELLANEOUS NOTES for 1850 Benton Co, MO CENSUS TRANSCRIPTION
24 Jan 2000
Dwelling Numbers
----------------
The dwelling numbers and family numbers always matched although there are several instances
where the occupants should probably be categorized as two families within a single dwelling.
There was no dwelling #33 listed
There was no dwelling #175 listed. There is a dwelling between #174 and #176 but it was also
labelled as #176
Color
-----
About 1/4 of the way through the census (line 33 page 286B) the enumerator quit putting any
marks for the person's color with the exception of several Black people. Probably if this field
is blank the person is White.
Enumerator Spelling and Copying errors
--------------------------------------
It is unknown how many names were misspelled or later miscopied by the enumerator but the
errors may be severe. One example is Family #136 which is listed as last name Lopp but is
known to actually be Sapp.
